Back in the 90s The Surfivors were a fresh-faced instrumental group playing mostly “Surf” music from the 50s and 60s. They were having some success in local pubs and clubs, but they were overjoyed to land a gig on a round the world cruise - not least because of the free alcohol on offer. After a particularly heavy session on the first night aboard, and not yet knowing their way around, they fell asleep in one of the lifeboats in the early hours of the morning.
At about 6am the ship’s crew ran a life boat drill, which went slightly wrong, and much later that afternoon the band awoke to find themselves drifting at sea, with no ship - or land - in sight….
After many eventful days at sea - tired, thirsty, hungry. with sun bleached hair, they finally came across the uninhabited desert island that they now call home…
